Dynamics Modeling and Hydrodynamic Coefficients Identification of the Wave Glider

The wave glider is an ocean-wave-propelled autonomous marine vehicle with unique dual-body architecture, which can converse the energy obtained from ocean into forward thrust. In this paper, dynamic models of submerged based on characteristics tandem hydrofoils and surface float were separately established. pitching angles angle attack between relative current considered for hydrodynamic coefficients. translational coefficient term high-angle-of-attack passive motion was calculated static test simulations by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Moreover, rotational damping coefficients added mass varying analyzed simulation vertical planar mechanism (VPMM) tests. Furthermore, numerical longitudinal computed performed, results compared sea trial data. analysis conclusions drawn, would provide a theoretical reference design glider.
